I have always had a fascination with food and cooking, over Christmas I watched two films relating to food, one was ‘Toast’ this was about the early years of Nigel Slater and then I watched ‘Julie & Juila’.
The inspiration for this blog was how do we all cook now a days, one problem I find is as a single person not only finding the enthusiasm to cook but also budgeting (what I mean by budgeting is not throwing heaps of food away).
So my plan for this blog is to share some recipes and cooking methods I have found work well, so don’t think of this as food blog with recipes think of this blog as cooking companion. I am a great lover of watching TV cooking programmes, but feel really frustrated that the chiefs and cooks start with 4 or 5 basic ingredients but then have a store-room of millions of products.
So I will detail all ingredients and also try to explain if you can by cheaper alternatives, what I will also look at recipes from famous chef and see what can be changed and altered for our style of living today.
I think we should all try to cook in 2011, I know that its easy to pop into a convenient supermarket and then bung it into the microwave, but how about you prepare all the food at the weekend or when you have time and then easily cook fresh food each day.
